Military of Defense in Assad regime said on its website that after an Israeli attack on one of its military posts in Quneitra, anti-aircraft defenses "repelled" the attack and downed a fighter jet to the southwest of Quneitra and a reconnaissance drone to the west of Sa’sa’.
On its part, Israeli military negated the claims of Assad regime that any of its warplanes or reconnaissance drones were downed, saying that they were fired at but not hit, according to NBC News.
Avichay Adraee, spokesperson of Israeli military to the Arab media, also negated the claims saying that, "A surface-to-air missile was fired form Syria after the air strike of the Israeli Defense Army yesterday. Our air crafts were far from the source of the threat."
It is worthy to mention that an Israeli warplane attacked Monday evening targets in Syria, few hours after a stray mortar bomb from the fighting in southern Syria hit Golan Heights. The strike was carried out after the US-Russia brokered nationwide ceasefire went into force.
