US-Russia Syria truce to begin after wave of Assad’s massacres
US-Russia Syria truce is due to begin at sundown, though there are doubts over its viability following the unprecedented escalation of Assad regime’s airstrikes in the last two days which resulted in tens of civilian deaths in Idlib, Aleppo and Damascus eastern countryside.

The truce was announced after long rounds of talks by the US secretary of state and the Russian foreign minister last week.

The Free Syrian Army (FSA) said it would observe the truce from Monday sundown as agreed but with major reservations.

The FSA wrote to Washington on Sunday, saying that while its fighters would "cooperate positively" with the ceasefire, they were concerned it would benefit the Assad regime.

Ahrar al-Sham, a main opposition fighting group, rejected the deal, saying it would only serve to strengthen Assad regime.

The truce, if observed, will open corridors for the U.N. to reach Syrians in Aleppo with badly needed relief.

Forty days of Assad regime’s bombardment in Aleppo have killed nearly 1000 civilians, including 160 children.

On Saturday, Russian or Assad airstrikes on opposition-held Idlib killed 63 civilians, including 13 children and injured more than 100 in an attack on a marketplace.
