Terrorism in Lebanon in flagrante delicto
Wael Najm points out in his article in Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that after three years to the Tripoli suicide blasts, the Lebanese judiciary issued an indictment decision regarding the crime ensuring the involvement of Assad’s intelligence services.

The writer then mentions the imprisonment of former Lebanese information minister Michel Samaha four years ago for smuggling explosives from Syria to Beirut and planning attacks after he confessed to the charges and gave details of a plot allegedly devised with Assad’s security chief Ali Mamluk.

The writer then asks: Will the Lebanese judiciary be able to predict new leads in the Tripoli bombings to further ensure that only one party has been behind all the bombings in Lebanon since 2011 or will politics and the game of interests halt the efforts of the judiciary and make them reach an impasse?

“We can say that the Lebanese judiciary has proved, in flagrante delicto, the involvement of Assad’s intelligence in these terrorist acts. Therefore, it is not permissible for the world to believe that this regime is fighting terrorism… and it is unacceptable to overlook Assad crimes in Syria and Lebanon,” the writer argues.

The writer then questions the extent of support the Assad regime will still receive after it has been accused of committing one crime after the other; will the regime’s supporters understand that their support will place them within the quagmire of Syria or will their political interests make them overlook all that and still continue with their campaigns against the Syrian people and the region entirely?

The writer concludes by stating that it has been long overdue for Assad’s allies to continue with their enormous support of the terrorist regime. If they continue with their extensive support, however, they will be “direct accomplices in real terrorism.”
