Who is ISIS’ voice, Abu Muhammad al-Adnani?
Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) announced Tuesday evening the death of Abu Muhammad al-Adnani, one of its prominent leaders, and its spokesperson, in Aleppo while he was monitoring the military operations, according to Amaq, the ISIS-affiliated news agency.

Abu Muhammad al-Adnani or Taha Sobhi Fallaha was born in 1977 in Binnish town near Saraqeb city in Idlib province, Syria to a simple family.

He used to work in constructions, but he was known for his love of reading, and he used to "read whatever comes into his hands," according to Turki bin Mubarak al-Binali, one of the organization’s members.

In addition to his real name, Fallaha has more than seven names and aliases, the most recognizable of which are al-Adnani, Taha al-Binnishi, Abu Muhammad al-Adnani al-Shami, Yassir Khallaf, Hussien Nazzal al-Rawi, Jaber Taha Fallah, Abu Bakr al-Khattab and Abu Sadeq al-Rawi.

Al-Adnani started Jihad in 2000, when he swore allegiance to the former al-Qaeda leader Abu Mosab al-Zarqawi. He left to Iraq one year after the American invasion.

US Army arrested al-Adnani one year after his entrance to Iraq. US intelligence admitted in a report that it arrested al-Adnani and held him in Buka prison which was dedicated for extremist Islamist detainees. The arrest took place in May 31, 2005 in Anbar province, Iraq.

However, al-Adnani was able to deceive the coalition forces after using another fake name, Yassir Hussein Nazzal al-Rawi. Because coalition forces did not realize how important he was, they released him in 2010.

Al-Adnani moved back to Syria late 2011 in a mission by al-Baghdadi, the leader of ISIS. The aim was to fight Assad regime under the name of “Jabhat al-Nusra li Ahl al-Sham”. He then assumed the position of the Emir of al-Sham in the organization.

The most important station in al-Adnani’s life in ISIS was when he announced mid 2014 the establishment of what he described as the Islamic Caliphate and designating Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi as an “Imam and Caliph for Muslims everywhere”.

Al-Adnani appeared in a video footage supervising the removal of an earthwork between Iraq and Syria, announcing the elimination of borders between the two countries, or "the collapse of Sykes-Picot idol".

Two years ago, the United States put a five-million-dollar bounty on the head of Abu Muhammad al-Adnani, the chief propaganda leader and strategist in ISIS.
