Following Velayati’s messages, Revolutionary Guards slapped in Aleppo
The Syrian- Lebanese scene was overshadowed by two main events. The first was the visit of the Advisor of the Supreme Leader Velayati to Beirut and Damascus and the second was the military operation in Aleppo countryside which resulted in a heavy loss of Assad regime and its backing Iranian militias.

In Beirut, Velayati said that “Iran and Syria will continue to protect the in South of Lebanon,” the advisor of the “leader of the axis of resistance” still believes that the audience listening to him is still convinced that the Iranian policy is busy in finding the way to liberate Palestine while they are watching on the other side how the Revolutionary Guards and Shia militias are fighting against “terrorists” in Aleppo.

The most important thing about Velayati’s visit to both capitals and his meetings with Nasrallah and Assad is that it comes as an Iranian sign that ensures Iran’s commitment to support Hezbollah especially after the sanctions that were imposed on it by the US.

Undoubtedly, the open crisis in Syria is overshadowing the current situation of Hezbollah which has been drained throughout the five years long of battles. This situation required the direct intervention by Iran through its militias.

While Velayati was renewing his country’s support for Assad, particularly after Russia’s foreign minister said that Assad is not on Russia’s top priorities, the Iranian forces received a big blow near Aleppo after they lost more than 100 fighters including many senior officers.

Iran is trying to comfort Hezbollah that it won’t give it up despite the dialogue between Iran and the US. It is also trying to calm its allies about the situation in Iraq. At the same time it is doing its best to restore what it has lost after Aleppo battle.

Iran is trying to increase its military operations in Aleppo in support of Assad. This support might be what made Assad tell Russia’s foreign minister that he won’t accept anything but a “complete victory”. However, the messages on the opposite side say that both Iran and Assad need more than a Russian coordination to avoid their defeat.
