Russian bombardment of Aleppo and the coercive inevitable extremism

Russian bombardment of Aleppo and the coercive inevitable extremism
The Russian fierce air campaign against Aleppo and its countryside achieved three goals:

- It brought bitterness and desperation to the hearts of the Free Syrian Army’s fighters.

- It brought an immediate fruitless end to the Geneva talks.

- It is a direct embodiment of the Russian opportunistic mentality which utilized Obama’s tendency of isolationism, so that Moscow is now having the upper hand on the Syrian complicated issue.

Putin is exploiting his intervention in Syria very strongly and shrewdly to retaliate from Russia’s traditional enemy, the United States; and he uses Syria as a battlefield to revenge for the Soviet loss in the Cold War era.

Putin also wants to confuse the Europeans and disperse them by the influx of Syrian refugees. For him, the battle of Aleppo seems to be a turning point of the Syrian crisis. The Russian forces kept the areas of ISIS intact and concentrated on crushing the moderate Syrian rebels who are realistically able to participate in a viable political solution. In fact, Obama’s disrespect of his own red-line in 2013 related to Bashar Assad’s use of chemical weapons against Syrian people encouraged Putin to conduct a manipulative policy in the Middle East and Ukraine.

The fall of Aleppo is catastrophic for the Syrian opposition, and it puts the credibility of the Western countries at stake. Therefore, the current situation in Aleppo raises the following crucial question:

Did the Russians cheat the Americans in Geneva’s talks to buy time for more bombardment in Syria? Or were the Russians and Americans conducting a joint clandestine conspiracy against the Syrian moderate opposition and its sponsors, namely Saudi Arabia and Turkey?

The silence of Obama’s administration towards the Russian systematic bombardment against Aleppo will vehemently increase the Islamic extremism in the Middle East. In other words, the issue of "Extremism" is a kind of dialectical relation of the Russian intervention in Syria and the American inexplicable indifference.

The lack of a just solution to the Syrian crisis will inevitably push the frustrated moderate freedom fighters to adopt extremism.
