Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea held on Wednesday the international community responsible for the prolongation of the war in Syria, labeling the developments in the country as a “major humanitarian tragedy.”
He urged via Twitter the international community to “intervene quickly in Syria to halt the massacres taking place there.”
The intervention should also pave the way “for the overthrow of the regime of Assad and the establishment of a free democracy in Syria.”
“The community will otherwise be faced with a new hundred year war in Syria and neighboring regions that may take various forms,” Geagea tweeted.
The Assad regime has fallen because those fighting in Syria are Iran and Russia, he added, Naharnet reported.
