Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus said that the change in balance of powers in the city of Aleppo will cause with a huge wave of Syrians seeking refuge in Turkey,” Anadolu Agency (AA) reported.
Kurtulmus added during an interview with CNN on Sunday that he “expected this huge number of refugees 9 months ago,” referring to the current situation on the Syrian-Turkish border which is witnessing an influx of thousands of refugees, due to assaults by Assad regime on the ground and the Russian aggression by air.
The deputy prime minister reminded that “the Turkish president Erdogan had previously warned against the possibility of the displacement of around one million Syrians into Turkey, in the event that the shelling of Aleppo and its surrounding areas continued.”
