The next Russian engagement is with NATO, not Turkey
Turkey’s foreign ministry announced on Friday that Russian warplanes renewed their violations of the Turkish airspace.

According to the ministry’s statement: “A Russian Su-34 violated the Turkish airspace Friday, pointing out that Turkish radars warned the Russian warplane many times.”

The statement noted that: “The violation of the Turkish airspace is considered a clear and new indication of the Russian behavior aiming at creating more problems despite the Turkish and NATO repeated warnings against such Russian actions,” in this respect the ministry’s statement assured that it has summoned up the Russian ambassador to Ankara to protest against the violation of the Turkish airspace.

Taking in consideration the Russian reactions to the downing of the Su-34 on 24/11/2015 and the psychological disorder of President Putin and his emotional reactions, the Turkish attitude should react reasonably not for fear of the Russian reactions or giving up the responsibility of protecting the Turkish airspace because it is the responsibility of the Turkish army and the Turkish government.

However, taking in consideration the unreasonable Russian reactions, the main challenge to face such violations of the Turkish sovereignty is to put the NATO before its responsibilities since this violation is not directed against the Turkish airspace only but it is rather a breach of the airspace which is the NATO responsible for.

So, if the Russian plan is to drag Turkey to get involved in a military reaction against the Russian warplanes, then both the Turkish government and NATO have to abort this plan by which Putin aims to divert the direction of the conflict in the region towards an open confrontation with Turkey after Putin’s failure in Syria where his forces have lost more than 100 fighters and his warplanes killed more than 4000 Syrian civilians without achieving any real change in the military situation of Assad and his sectarian pact.

The second possible plan behind the new Russian violation of the Turkish airspace is practice pressures on the AK government which announced its rejection of taking part in Geneva III unless there is a clear commitment to ceasefire by Assad regime first, to give free access to relief aid second, and to lift the siege on cities and towns according to Security Council Resolution 2254 third.

It is clear that Putin wanted to threaten Erdogan in order to practice pressure over the Syrian opposition that refused to go to Geneva without a clear commitment to the articles of the international resolution.

The Russian President is trying to divert the attention of his people towards marginal battles pretending that Turkey is helping the “Terrorists” and accusing the Turkish government of standing against the Russian battle against “Terrorism” in the region.

Putin’s attempt shouldn’t be given any means to succeed. Therefore, NATO has to take up the responsibility of protecting the Turkish airspace because it is a violation of NATO member airspace. Moreover, Putin’s goal is to impose the Russian view of the political solution in Syria and Turkey is not the only side in this equation. The Syrian people who have been fighting Assad forces and their allies are the ones who are aborting the Russian solution that is based on lies and fabrications.

The Turkish government realizes that the repeated Russian violations aim at involving Turkey in a conflict with the Russian army but this plot shouldn’t pass since it is part of the plot to evade Putin’s failure in Syria.

Based on these facts NATO should work with Turkey to avoid any possible conflict that may erupt due to Putin’s failure. This doesn’t affect the Turkish sovereignty but makes the Turkish government looks more reasonable since it doesn’t be dragged to any conflict with the Russian people who are being led by unreasonable domination maniac.
