The key word in Rouhani’s statement is “tackling”. If tackling means “countering” terrorism, no one can question or quarrel with Rouhani. However, if he means “triggering and managing” terrorism, his statement becomes hypocritic and dubious.
The following may show which way his statement goes:
*Iran’s has recruited thousands of undocumented Afghans to fight in Syria, according to HRW.
*Iranian authorities have coerced Afghans to join the fight in favor of Assad and offered them financial incentives and legal residence in Iran.
*Iran used the IRGC and its regional proxy groups to implement foreign policy goals, provide cover for intelligence operations, and create instability in the Middle East.
*Iran has provided hundreds of millions of dollars in support of Hezbollah and has trained thousands of its fighters to support the Assad regime.
*Iran is funding the state-sponsored terrorism and massacres being perpetrated by Assad regime in Syria
*The mullahs’ regime has paid Assad billion dollars cash and pays them 0 million monthly and sends forces, ammunition and weapons for them.
*In 1995 Iran provided training to terrorist organizations to help in the destabilization of Gulf States and aid assistance to militants in these countries to replace the existing governments with Iran-like regimes.
*In August 2012, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei instructed the IRGC to increase their terror attacks due to what the Iranian government perceived as their interests being threatened by UN sanctions and the West’s support of Syrian opposition.
*Iranian authorities provided lethal support, including weapons, training, funding, and guidance, to Iraqi militant groups that targeted Coalition and Iraqi forces and killed innocent Iraqi civilians
*In November 2008, shipment of chemicals to Venezuela was seized in Turkey.
*Rouhani helped mastermind the 1994 bombing of a cultural center in Buenos Aires and of the Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia in 1996.
*The ruling clerics called themselves God’s representatives on earth, and anyone opposing them was deemed a mohareb, an enemy of God. The Quran authorizes torture and death for enemies of God.
Again Rouhani is right in describing Iran as the most capable of tackling terrorism, but in the sense of triggering it and in being the instigator. The facts above attest to Rohani’s description of his Iran being the present cradle of terrorism.
