More civilians die in besieged Madaya
Death toll rose to 16 people who had died of starvation in Madaya in western Damascus after a woman and an elderly man died as a result of lack of food and medical supplies.

The death of the 2 people came after "dosages" of UN aid entered into Madaya on 11 and 14 January bringing the total number of people killed of malnutrition to 56 since the beginning of the siege imposed by Hezbollah militias on the town more than six months ago.

Medical sources in Madaya warned that many more will die of hunger in the coming hours as there are more than 75 critical cases.

UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Stephen O’Brien said earlier that about 400 people in Madaya must be evacuated immediately for life-saving medical attention.

On the other hand, Hezbollah militias displaced 15 families by force in southern Madaya, after taking control over several points in al-Bideari palace, al-Mathana checkpoint and al-Kroum area.
