Some lines of the exclusive statement, which was passed by the director of public relations in "Tahrir al-Sham, Emad Eddin Mujahid, read:
“The Russian claims of targeting the headquarters of Tahrir al-Sham and injuring of its commander-in-chief, Abu Muhammad Al-Julani, aim at spreading rumors to justify bombing civilians.”
The statement came after the Russian Defence Ministry’s spokesman Igor Konashenkov said a Russian airstrike attacked a meeting of Tahrir al-Sham’s senior commanders in Idlib.
"As a result of the strike, the leader of Jabhat al-Nusra (Tahrir al-Sham) Abu Mohammed al-Julani suffered multiple serious shrapnel wounds and lost his arm,” Konashenkov continued in the statement.
Idlib was declared a fourth de-escalation zone by the three guarantor states (Turkey, Russia, Iran) last month, but no no calm down of escalation has been observed so far.
