US foreign policy: The facade and the heart of darkness
Research centers attract decision makers. They make their life less complicated; because they constitute the counter balancing dimension to advice coming from consultants and advisers. Some politicians, like researchers, try to limit the influx of information and data on a particular issue, lest they burden their minds with a heavy load of information to come up with a tiny statement summing up a position that could influence the lives of millions of people.

A case in point is President Obama’s position towards the Syrian situation. Ben Rhodes, Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications definitely is not the sole source of Obama’s information or position on Syria, as the New York Magazine wanted to convince us. There is a system in operation. It is called the American foreign policy machine which is made up of a network of hundreds of contributing factors in action geared towards triggering a particular stand, position or policy execution.

The details of such a policy are not available to us in a form of a hand or guide-book. The effects, reflections, and facts on the ground are what we have. The consequences on the ground are the translations of such an American policy.

It is projected as detached, indifferent, heartless, noninvolved, weak, cost effective and even loose. But in reality it got every party super, and subordinate in big trouble - with Russia and Syrians on top of the losers. Along with the main losers, there are minor losers. The losses of Syrians have become common knowledge to everybody on the face of earth: a state in ruins, a Failing State, this is the Syria that was the main threat to Israel. It is simply gone. Israel could not have dreamt of this. In the short run, this has been the greatest achievement for Israel since its foundation. It has gone beyond 1948, 1967 and Camp David. In the long run, it is a different story to be addressed towards the end of this article.

The Second greatest achievement of such an American foreign policy operation is cleaning up some of the Cold War aftermath repercussions and dreams of Russian superpower-hood revival or retrieval.

There is a power surplus in Russia remnant of a military industry and an atomic arsenal activation potentiality. When such a massive power is in the hands of an egoist little dictator, it can be real dangerous, if it is not dealt with and handled with creative caution. This surplus of power in egotistic hands should be emptied or released in adventures that look like areas, affairs, or matters that would restore superpower-hood but in reality would turn into the black hole where planets would vanish. Russia’s black hole designed by the US is Syria. Putin finds himself now between one hundred rocks and a similar number of hard places.

Putin simply cannot leave nor can he stay. If he leaves, it is the end of a dream. If he stays, coffins would start pouring into Moscow; the last thing Putin would imagine happening.

What happened lately in Aleppo is indicative of a real impasse for him. What he counted on- as a Syrian army, with the support of Iranians to recapture Aleppo by his air bombardment support- could not do the job. The Americans – and in front of his eyes and the eyes of the Iranians and his Assad regime- are in the process of recapturing the “capital” of Daesh, al-Raqqa.

The efforts of Research centers, advisers or consultants have been of relative use to an American foreign policy that has done things slowly, steadily and inhumanly.

In this way, it is on its way to ruining Putin’s unrealistic bombast dreams and ending once and for all any superpower dreaming on the part of Russia.

As for Israel, in the short run, it won tremendously, but in the long run, Syrians are more adamant to make it pay dear for this tragedy.

How? This remains to be seen; but for sure Israel won their permanent hostility and determination to make it pay dear; its end even if it takes long.
